Cat Post

Today at the human’s breakfast time I came upstairs from the basement (my room) and waited impatiently at the side door to be dressed in my outside apparel and let out to freedom into the yard. Random Guy grabbed me and put on my harness. I allowed it. It’s all worthwhile if I can go out and taste the morning air. Also, the squirrels have been taunting me and I need to exact my revenge.

Random Guy plopped me down rather carelessly in the gravel and tied my leash to the rope which always slows me down. I drag this big rope around the yard slowly until I get to where I need to be (or until I reach as far as I can go). On my way to the squirrel tree I normally sit under I was distracted by an intriguing smell. I stopped in my tracks and looked around. I sniffed the air and realized what I was smelling. Another cat was in my yard. I let out a grumble in disgust. This was not one of my regular cat visitors. A new cat in my yard! How dare he tread on my property.

As I turned to look behind me I saw him – a slinky white and grey tabby creeping up to me. I hissed and growled and he stopped in his tracks. We had a stare-off for several minutes. I heard mom commenting from the picnic table but I couldn’t take my eyes off Slinky to acknowledge her. Why can’t she see I’m busy staring down an intruder! Slinky eventually backed away but still wasn’t leaving. He perched himself behind the shed and I stood my ground as long as I could. I got scooped by mom shortly after. As I’m being carried away, Slinky called to my mom, asking for food! The nerve of some people. I can’t believe it. I was set down inside again, my harness removed. I’ll head down to the basement and wait for lunch.
