My Name is Zero!
I’m a 2.5 year old tabby cat. I was born in Duncan, BC and I’ve lived in Nanaimo my whole life. I’ve been walking on a leash and harness since I was adopted at 8 weeks old and I’ve always had a passion for the outdoors. Here’s my story:
How Adventures Began
I started out in a condo with mom taking me out around the building. There was a cute little garden and a patio space that was pretty quiet. I would meet pets here and there but never really got used to animals. People were (and still are) my favorite. My Instagram is the best place to see snaps from this era.
The Decline
Mom and I moved just after my first birthday and I became really spooked in my new neighborhood. There were lots of new smells, we lived by the marsh and there were a lot of cats around which was different from where we lived before.
When we first moved she took me for a walk. I smelled a stink bug and it possessed me to jump around. Mom tells it like I started to shimmy out of my harness so she could only grab me and face my claws, or let me run away in a strange neighborhood. She really overthinks a lot of things, but I’ll give it to her here- I don’t think I could have found my way home if I had gotten away.
She grabbed me and I sliced her up like a honey ham at a deli in my panic. After that she was nervous to take me out and I was nervous to go out. She got me this cool wheel but a part of me wished I could go back outside again and prove that I could be brave.
How the Adventures Re-Began
When mom met Random Guy, I started going on walks again. They took me outside every single day! I started going on car rides too which I really didn’t like. I’ve gotten so much better at it now! I even got a ride on the boat!
I hope you enjoy following this tabby cat’s adventures! Maybe reading my stories will inspire you to share some freedom with your own pets.
